X-Ray technology uses x-ray radiations to expose human body and to impart image of the specific organ or region being exposed to radiation for diagnostic or therapeutic purpose. Department of radiology is responsible to provide cost effective convenient efficient safe diagnostic and therapeutic care to patient using various imaging modalities (X-Ray, USG, ECG) according to scope of healthcare facilities. Radiology Department must provide services to all department of hospital (Indoor, OPD, Emergency) and to patients of all age groups (Neonatal, Pediatric, Adult) especially the role of radiology department is increasing day by day in provision of Emergency and trauma care where it allows rapid diagnosis followed by timely treatment. Radiology department is easily accessible for general public. There is effective and standard signage for guidance of patients. We have display radiation danger sign in radiology Department. Fast and easy connections with patients of EMR and indoor. According to Human Resource there is a lack of man power, there is no radiologist, no x-ray technician no dark room assistant and helper. We have valid license from PNRA.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Enlisted below are the main points:

  • Radiological procedures will be performed in THQ Hospital Mian Channu only upon written request by registered medical practitioner/dental surgeon
  • Nurses/paramedical staff are not permitted to sign the radiology request form
  • Request form must contain sufficient information to identify the patient i.e. Full Name, MR, Date of Birth, CNIC, Contact No, Age etc
  • Diagnostic services through radiology department is available to all members of public as per notified timing of hospital
  • Radiology services will be available for Emergency and critical admitted patient after normal working hours round the clock
  • Medical Record must be maintained
  • Equipment and supply must be of high quality
  • Patient attendant must be informed about the right privileges and responsibilities
  • All patients will be dealt as first come First Serve basis but priority will be given to Emergency and indoor patient and old age patients
  • Information provided by the pregnant patients and children that x-rays are harmful for them and keep away from x-ray room

  • We will perform the quality of x-ray so that they consistently provide adequate diagnostic information at the lowest possible cost and with the least possible
  • exposure of the patient to the radiation
  • We will do effort to reduce unnecessary radiation expose to patient and staff
  • Improve the radiology services and ensure the compliance of MSDS
  • we will follow the ALARA Policy
  • Ensure compliance of SOPs
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of equipment’s
