The THQ Hospital Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is committed to provide the highest quality care to women in every stage of her life, whether she is seeking contraceptive or tactility advice, care during and after pregnancy or treatment for menopausal symptoms, we will be with her step of the way. In our hospital, on average, there are more than 80 admissions, 80 plus deliveries and around 1500 OPD patients per month.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Enlisted below are the main points:

  • The admission and / or discharge should only be made by Gynacologist / Medical Officer/Women Medical Officer on duty
  • For new admissions receive patient, check vitals before quarrying through old records, lab results, old discharge summary and old charts
  • After assessment and patient’s physical exam, complete admission orders including drug prescription immediately
  • Charge Nurses and Doctors are primarily responsible for writing daily notes on each of their patients
  • Drug dosage, side effects and interactions should be checked daily and major points should be noted down in patients record by Hospital Pharmacist
  • One attendant only allowed with one patient
  • On death / expiry of patient, complete documentation should be maintained by the Charge Nurse and endorsed by the Medical Officer / Women Medical Officer on duty

  • Ultrasound machine
  • Delivery table which can be turned to the trendelenburg position
  • An anaesthesia machine with emergency oxygen supplies
  • Endotracheal tubes and laryngoscope
  • An incubator, with temperature adjustable or infants in need
  • Separate oxygen supply to the incubator
  • Privacy for mothers e.g when breast feeding
  • Resuscitation equipment and drugs for new borns and adults
  • Intravenous crystalloid and plasma expanders
  • Weighing machine or the baby
  • Suction apparatus
  • CTG machine

  • To improve the health and wellbeing of women, in fronts, children and families
  • To reduce the rate of fetal and material mortality
  • To increase the proportion of pregnant women who receive early and adequate prenatal, antenatal, preterm births
  • To reduce Cesarean births among low- risk women
